French Day in Conjunction with the French Embassy
The Department of Translation Studies/College of
Humanities and Social Sciences in conjunction with the
French Embassy organized a “French Day” activities on
May 16, in which students from all over the University
participated. The French Day was inaugurated by Dean
Dennis Leavens, along with the French Cultural
Counsellor Mr. David BERTOLOTTI, representing the French
Embassy. The event was attended by other French
representatives from the French Embassy such as Ms.
Ingrid Negati (French Cultural Attaché), Clair
BERTOLOTTI (Campus France), Mr. Laurent Gillard,
(Permanent Representative of the French Museums Agency
in Abu Dhabi) among others.

French Day in Conjunction with the
French Embassy
The “French Day” incorporated interesting activities
such as lectures on higher education in France. It also
included screening of mini-documentaries about France,
French songs and poems performed by UAEU students
studying French. Other lectures included Logistic and
Preventive Conservation of Fine Arts (the example of
French company based in Al Ain). Other activities
included a quiz (Do you know France?), a presentation on
how to learn French in France in a different way,
presented by Claire BERTOLOTTI, and a presentation about
the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi. Photos of the French
seashore and its environmental conservation were also on
displayed during this event. The French Day was
concluded by a film entitled “Not Here to be Loved”
which included English subtitles.
